Welcome to Year 1

We hope you had a lovely summer holiday!

The Year One teachers are Mrs Foley (1F), Mrs Obende (1O) and Miss Gander (1G) also supported by Mrs Auvache

PE will take place on Monday's and Friday's 1F (please ensure that your child's PE kit along with all other school uniform is labelled).  Wednesday and Thursday for 1G and Tuesday 10

Please ensure that reading records are signed daily, the example below explains how they should be filled in.  The name of the RWI/Phonics book and five signatures within one box.  You can also add the names of the bug club books read and the 'Reading for pleasure book' which you have read to your child.  

Reading records will be checked on Friday's for the five parent signatures for Phonics books and a new 'reading for pleasure book' will also be added to the book bag.  RWI/Phonics books will be changed by their Phonics teacher and the days will depend on when the writing activities which go with the book have been completed.  

Homework will be issued on See-Saw on a Friday and it expected to be completed by Wednesday.  Your QR code to access See-saw has been stuck in the front of your child's reading record for your convenience.  You will also find the details on how to access see-saw in the letter which will be issued week commencing 13-09-21.  Will are also able to allocate links and documents which will help support your child with their learning at home.  

We are really looking forward to helping each and every one of our children develop a love of learning this year.  

Week commencing 06-06-22

This week in Year 1 we are learning:

English/RE

We will be finishing up our book 'If all the world were'. We will be writing about our favourite Summer memory and about a special person.  

RE

We will learning how important it is to show forgiveness and to be sorry.  

Maths

This week we will be working on positional language.    

Science

We will be starting our new topic and discussing which animals live on land and those that live in the water or are semi-aquatic.   

Computing

We will be beginning our new topic digital imagery.  

History

We will be finishing up our History topic and looking at different artifacts from the past.
